Shenzhen is most rewarding when you bring a specific question: which camera kit, which connector, which edition? Official retail and electronics-market browsing serve different needs.

Buy carefully: A familiar logo at a market counter does not prove brand authorization. Compare the exact model, app requirements, regional features and home-country service before buying technology.

If components are your priority, start at SEG and allow time for testing. Add the Book Mall for a quieter second stop after a separate journey, or make either place the whole outing.

Look for: Books, illustrated cultural titles and stationery.
Before you pay: Check the language, edition and condition before paying. A smaller illustrated book may travel better than a large hardback.

The details that make the day easier
- Photograph a market counter’s number and keep the seller’s details; the building name alone will not help with a return.
- Ask about required apps, firmware, menu language and chargers as well as warranty coverage.
- OCT Harbour and OCT-LOFT are not interchangeable map searches. Use the Chinese address on each card.
Use the Chinese address in your preferred map app or show it to a driver. Google Maps access in mainland China can vary. Recheck opening hours and any museum entry arrangements directly; older official listings are useful leads, not a promise a branch has stayed unchanged.
