How we choose what to cover
We focus on things a traveler can realistically compare, buy and take home. Our recommendations are editorial starting points, not a ranking of every product or a guarantee that China has the lowest price.
City guides use official tourism sources. Refund and customs information links to government guidance. Product service cautions link to manufacturers. Practical buying checks and route suggestions are our editorial judgment. We do not claim to have personally tested the products or visited every store.
Our guides and email membership
We are preparing a one-time Shanghai Shopping Field Guide at a planned US$19 price and Carry China Weekly at a planned US$9/month for four editions per month. The product pages explain the differences. Real samples are available now; purchases, preorders and email sign-ups are not open yet.
The full guide and recurring newsletter will launch only when their content and delivery are ready. We are not currently charging anyone or sending subscriber emails.
Commercial relationships
There are currently no affiliate tracking links, paid placements or booking services on Carry China. External links are provided for research. If we introduce affiliate links, they will be clearly identified near the recommendation. Commercial partners will not be able to buy a better editorial rating.
Carry China does not sell physical goods, arrange imports or handle tax refunds. No payment is currently collected on this site. Transactions with retailers and travel providers take place on their own services and under their terms.
Freshness and corrections
Launch content was reviewed on 16 September 2026. Each policy guide shows its sources. Opening hours, stock, prices and individual-store tax-refund participation should be confirmed directly; we do not present them as live information.
If a source and this guide differ, follow the current official source and confirm your situation with the relevant authority. Our guides are general travel information, not individualized legal or tax advice.
