Three Shanghai stops.
One better buying habit.

A city gift, a tea stop and a museum keepsake—with useful questions to take along.

Sample edition · 16 September 2026 · Public-source research

A good shopping day can start with one specific place. Instead of trying to see every district, pick the kind of object you want to bring home, then leave enough time to look at it properly.

Here are three different starting points. They are not a single walking route, and we have not verified current stock.

Design & city gifts

Tingdeco Gift Shop — West Bund Central

A Shanghai-themed gift stop that combines an art space, cultural gifts and a tea-and-coffee lounge. Browse for a small keepsake connected to the city’s visual history.

Take this address: Room 101, 278 Ruining Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai

上海市徐汇区瑞宁路278号101室

The useful check: Choose the object first, then inspect its material, finish and packaging. Ask what is included in a gift set rather than judging it by the box.

Tea

Zhengshantang — Tianshan Tea City

This branch appears in Zhengshantang’s official shop directory. Use the unit number as well as the building address when you arrive at the tea market.

Take this address: Unit 1100, Tianshan Tea City, 520 Zhongshan West Road, Changning District, Shanghai

上海市长宁区中山西路520号天山茶城1100铺位

The useful check: Ask which teas are available to taste, then check the ingredient label and net weight. Buy for flavor and a quantity you will use, not a prestige story.

Museum & cultural gifts

Shanghai Museum East — souvenir shop

Combine a museum visit with a look at its first-floor souvenir shop. Check the museum’s current visitor information before planning access.

Take this address: 1F, Shanghai Museum East, 1952 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area, Shanghai

上海市浦东新区世纪大道1952号,上海博物馆东馆一楼

The useful check: Inspect the actual product and read its label. Confirm the current entry arrangements on the museum’s website; a shop mention is not a guarantee of admission.

The habit to keep

Write down the exact item.

When two prices look different, check whether the model, material, pack size and return terms are actually the same. An itemized receipt makes the comparison—and any later question—much easier.

可以给我发票吗?
Could I have the invoice?

For a departure refund, ask for the required refund application as well. An invoice on its own is not the complete process.
